 UVA History

Dear Friend of Upper Valley Arts:

Upper Valley Arts is a unique organization that helps to Fund, Promote and Coordinate Art Programs and Groups in the Upper Valley.  UVA is a non-profit group led by a volunteer Board of Directors and virtually all of the money we raise goes directly back into the community.  Since 1977 UVA has helped fund a wide variety of Arts projects.  We continue today to help in Art Education, Performing and Visual Arts, both for new and continuing Arts endeavors.  Our funds come from the generous support of you, our members and supporters and from special fund raisers such as our Annual Gala and Art Auction.

Art benefits our community.  A healthy and vibrant art environment provides benefits to our children and educational system, enriches our quality of life and increases tourism in our area.  The benefits from the groups and programs UVA helps support are very tangible.

In 2003 UVA provided grant monies to a long list of applicants including:  the Leavenworth Coffee House, the Leavenworth Village Voices, Leavenworth Summer Theater, Artist Guild of Leavenworth, Cordi Bradburn (Peshastin Elementary School Entrance Enhancement Project), NCW Playback Theater, Cashmere High School Centennial Book Project, Watershed Art, Cascade High Photography Arts Class, Cashmere Pioneer Village and Museum Sculpture Project, Vale Elementary School Cashmere Founders’ Day Poster Contest, Empty Bowls and the Mālamlama O Ka Mahina Hula group.  UVA raised and granted over $10,000 in 2003 which included a designated $7000 donation to fund a new pottery art program for the Icicle River Middle School. This will change lives and have a lasting affect on our community.

Although our Annual Gala fund raiser is highly successful each year, without the support of our members and sponsors we will not be able to do enough.  In December of 2003 UVA received over $5000 in grant requests for very worthy projects, but was only able to grant $1300 to these projects.  The UVA Board of Directors is working hard to continue helping our community Arts Projects.  Additionally, we desire to take on more ambitious projects in the future that will greatly enhance the Visual Arts in the Upper Valley.

This is where you have a role in Upper Valley Arts!  We need continued support from our Individual and Family members, as well as our Business members, Supporters and Patrons.  If you have already renewed your membership for 2004, Thank You!  If you have not yet joined Upper Valley Arts or have not renewed your 2004 membership, please consider doing this today.  Whatever level of support you can provide will give us monies that will be invested wisely back into our community.  The members of the UVA Board volunteer many hours for just this kind of result.  We invite you to participate and be a part of helping to create and support a “vibrant arts environment and diverse arts experiences for all of the residents and visitors to the Upper Wenatchee Valley”.

Thank You for Your Support!
